Health Insurance Companies |
A health insurance policy is only as good as the
company that stands behind that policy. Companies that
routinely deny claims are not the kind of insurers you
will want to do business with. |

Who Is Responsible For Payment |
If your insurance company does not cover a medical
procedure or only partially pays for treatment, you
are responsible for the remaining costs. For this reason,
your insurer should have good track record both as a
solid company that will remain in business and also
as a trustworthy company that pays legitimate claims
fully, promptly and without unnecessary red tape.
Ask These Questions:
- How long has the company been in business?
- How many complaints have been lodged against the
company?
- What kind of reputation does it have with it comes
to paying claims?

How To Find Out The Answers To These Questions
|
Your state Department of Insurance keeps track of
insurers who operate within the state. You will often
find detailed information on their website about complaints,
for example.
To find the web address of you local department search
on the Internet for "department of insurance [your
state]". When you look through the search engine
results, look for an official state website -- one that
generally ends with dot gov [.gov] instead of dot com
[.com].
